ABOUT

Hey there, my name is Brian Soria. First and foremost, I am an artist and graphic designer from Austin, Texas. You can check out my personal work on BrianSoria.com or peep my instagram. Sometimes I put stuff up for sale, and your support helps me keep Drawlloween going!

Drawlloween originated as a drawing challenge to draw a monster a day for the month of October.  It was inspired by Jonathan Coulton's "Thing A Week". (Found my first posting on my old blog here) . I ran a super villain-themed sketch group  called the Society of Malice! that'd meet up at Spiderhouse or Epoch or any of the eight billion coffee shops in Austin, and draw, draw draw!

From there, a member posted his work to some internet forums, and va-va-va-voooooom, Drawlloween super took off!

Drawlloween is about drawing creepy, spooky, weird things all month long. Tell your friends, and spread the word. I'll try and post both old drawings from years past as well as this year's goodies.

Drawlloween has spawned so many little offshoots, with art groups around the world offering their own take. Wow! The entire purpose was to inspire people to make art, so if you see another prompt list that you enjoy more, then follow your heart! For my sake, we only feature the art that uses the official Drawlloween calendar prompts. But, iff you see another calendar float around, make sure to tag your ol' friend @Drawlloween on whatever social media you happen to be using, and let people know you follow the O.G. account!

I'm really humbled that a fun little thing has spiraled into something bigger (and I'm double psyched that it's Halloween related!). I just want to thank everyone for participating. And I mean everyone!

Have fun, keep drawing (and if you feel so inclined check out my personal blog.)

    1. Hello. If you search social media using #Drawlloween2015 and the such, you can find previous year's art. There are tabs at the top of the page from previous years (a lot of my art before the challenge really took off)

    1. Absolutely. But the best way for your art to have a chance of reposting, is for it to be on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter. I'm just one guy running all of these accounts, so it's hard for me to search everything several times a day. Thanks for the support!

  3. I'm so excited about Drawlloween since I learned about it last year. One suggestion about fontober or any other projects...please do them in a different month. It's all I can do to do ONE drawing a day with work and life demands. Not everything has to happen in October. I mean, I have to make it to all the haunted houses, watch all the horror movies AND still do all the mundane things life requires. ;)

  5. Are there any rules for mediums used? I've been digging around and haven't really found any "rules" for completing the works ...

    1. Hey hey, my version of Drawlloween (The original) has no set medium. Follow the prompt, and see what you create! (Sorry for the late reply! Thanks for the interest!)
